Do gynecologists use lubrication when doing a vaginal exam?

I can only imagine how uncomfortable an exam must be, so I would assume they would use lubrication to make it more bearable.

  The last appointment I had, they used disposable plastic. I’m kind of glad it wasn’t heated.
