Time for tech workers to unionize and not go back until work protections exist.

Workers will also need to get comfortable with change, he says. In the near future, Fuller predicts that AI will create “permanent tumult” within many organizations as they continue to recalibrate their staffing needs around AI advancements.

How about fuck you instead. Organize a union so they have to bargain with workers before doing any kind of change to the workforce

Labor should keep the profits of its work. The owners just sit around and make bad decisions. Fuck them. They’d be lucky to walk away, if there was justice in this world.

I wish. We lost a couple of great folks in my team this month, and I might even be next on the chopping block. They’re not gonna stop until they literally sink. And by that time, rehiring people won’t be needed anyway.

Anyone who goes back to a company (without having an immediate exit strategy at least) that lays them off is an idiot.

Now that being said, I understand that you might “need the job” but when it comes down to it you better go back having one foot out the door.

    Fuck these companies.

Here’s the thing, the company that got rid of me is ultimately reasonable. If they ask for me to return, I’ll have some nice negotiation chips to bargin with.

I thought most of us figured out loyalty to any specific corporate employer was a dead end back in 2008 (or even 2001 for some of us). The better path is assume the job won’t always be there, bank what savings you can to weather the inevitable gap of unemployment (hoping you never have to use it), and take advantage of every training or learning opportunities at your current employer to improve your skills to take the next step up the ladder with your next employer.

I’d absolutely go back to an old employer if the price was right, and in fact, I have. It lasts as long as it lasts, just like any other job whether you’ve been employed there before or not.

I’ve already explained that any signature on any post-employment NDA will cost them a year’s salary…

If I get laid off, I know enough about the faults in their product to kill all future sales…

I’d recommend editing your post and removing that last sentence. If for whatever reason you would follow through with that in the future, and they’re able to connect your real name to that post, then they might have grounds for civil penalties against you.
