Respectfully, this is a bad take. If you are travelling to SF by public transport it’s certainly no worse access than before. I grew up making trips to Ocean Beach with my family a few times a year via BART and MUNI from Fremont and have continued doing so since moving back recently. The only difference is that BART runs fewer trains than they used to, but the rest of the journey is the same as ever.
Also, it’s pretty easy (and free) to park in one of the many adjacent parking lots if you are already driving into the city. Crossing downtown is the real obstacle, and if you are able to take the san mateo bridge you can enter from the south and avoid it entirely.
Add public transit? BART is going broke because no one wants to ride the public transit they already have. They’ll be shutting down stations unless their new sales tax passes.
Public transit shouldn’t be expected to turn a profit or even break even. We don’t expect public schools, highways, or fire departments to break even. Why should BART? It’s a public service.
I’m going to assume that you make ridiculous comparisons for sport. You do realize there are parking spaces literally 15 ft from this park, just not on that road, which never had parking. Your point is so moot you should be ashamed of yourself
The road goes north to south how does leaving it open make it any more accessible to the people in the east bay?
You can still drive to ocean beach, even with sunset dunes as a park. Actually it means that the beach is now one street closer to the east bay, so we technically made it a tiny bit more accessible LOL.
That beach is completely inaccessible by public transit from the East Bay.
Closing it to cars is a NIMBY move by neighbors who don’t want to share the beach with out of towners.
we thinking of different beaches?

those are bus stops

they should add public transit then
100% agree. The solution is to add public transportation. Public transportation makes it more accessible than opening it for car access

?
The cars in my area are constantly full during the day, it’s hard to even board after 0730.

There are fewer than half as many total riders as there were before the pandemic.
that has less to do with the number of riders and more to do with fluctuations in federal funding
It exists, but takes 3 hours each way, so is unusable by families.
they should add public transit then
They should not take away public access until there’s public transit.
How do the locals get there then? Can’t out-of-towners do the same thing?
