The problem with “standing up to the US” are the massive economic ties and - even a bigger concern - the needs for cooperation in defence and technology. It’s bad if more than half your arsenal can be disabled simply by not providing spare parts. Even worse if you public infrastructure can be mostly shut down by disabling your services hosting on Amazon.

Luckily at the moment there ARE movements away from the US, but i think they are deliberate low-key to not trigger a (more) hostile action.

Carney trying to extricate Canada is wild. When Carney moves too fast Trump threatens to invade, so he changes a word in a dispatch and takes a meeting in Washington and Trump settles down for a minute. Rinse and repeat.

It is both incredibly fast and incredibly slow.

      Not happening.

There was a momentum, when Trump administration started to be openly hostile towards Europe, when everyone seemed to be ready to push back and cut all possible ties with them… … Just for the European Commission and Von Der Leyen to drop their pants, lube themselves and comply with them for the sake of diplomacy.

Our leadership is corrupt and bought off and the majority of voters too brain damaged by foreign sponsored brain-rot to do anything against it, so nothing will happen. Also “bullying” isn’t exatly mthe correct term for fucking over people you own…
