nah bro, I get descriptivism is important and not locking yourself down too hard lets language evolve, but prescriptivism is how we make sure we are still able to communicate with each other clearly without confusion.
I agree with you. But I disagree on this rule avoiding confusion. I think it does the opposite. I think that’s why most speakers ignore it.
