MADRID - Spain is no longer considering the option of buying U.S.-made F-35 fighter jets and is choosing between European-made Eurofighter and the so-called Future Combat Air System (FCAS), a defence ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday. Depends on the negotiation. I totally don’t see that other nations fund one nation’s research project (like d’assault would love it to be)

If you take a look at the Eurofighter’s history (e.g. a yt summary) the old FCAS project had the same problems and on/off memberships.
