      Well, it’s obvious from your condescending and insulting tone that you’re completely right and I’m completely wrong, so there’s no use pretending that it would be in any way valuable for me to present an ‘explanation’.

        Their tone might have been a bit sarcastic, but was neither condescending nor insulting.

        I for one would like to know why GDR would be more likely than other parts of Germany to adopt these policies.

          I think it all boils down to saying “GDR is the antipode to progressive politics”. Which, to me (a huge ignorant on GDR politics) is a rephrasing of “communism=bad”.
