What does she think would happen if Greenland declared independence?.. That the US would just honour that?
The only two options on the table at the moment, as unfair as it is, are staying with Denmark and NATO or being absorbed into the United States. Independence would mean defacto becoming part of the US.
Would that necessarily entail that China sends settlers? If not, it would probably be a better deal for them than getting conquered by the USA. And I say this as someone who thinks that the PRC fucking sucks.
That depends on how independence is handled. Denmark/Europe could still ensure defence of an independent Greenland. As much as they can right now at least…
And why would they? No European country would send their troops into a war against the US to defend a former European country that just declared independence.
It’s unlikely that any European country will send troops to war against the US either way. But leaving that aside, an independent Greenland would still be associated and integrated with Europe. Everything else would basically be suicide for the country and it’s also in Europe’s interest to keep Greenland within its sphere.
When you wrote of Denmark kidnapping children to cleanse the native culture, I assumed you meant literally that. If you want to talk about child protection measures which apply to all Danish citizens but unfairly disadvantage minorities due to various factors, sure, but then you should be clear about what you mean and maybe not exaggerate to a ridiculous extent.
I read the link. Seems like a trial run, then they implemented in a broad program that effects as many native children as necessary. Of course there is a venneer of plausible deniability called forældrekompetenceundersøgelse… Did you expect them to call it kidnapningstest ??

It would be funny if they joined China

Which is fucking insane!
Denmark literally kidnaps children to cleanse the native culture.
Did. Past tense. Last time that happened was around 50 years ago. Well within living memory, but definitely not going on today.
Literally still going on https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/nov/25/danish-parenting-tests-baby-removed-from-greenlandic-mother

While it is partially true, it happened in the 60s and 70s mostly. The so called Spiralkampagnen. Denmark apologized a few years for it. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yelp5466no
