They want a platform they can do their own thing on. Fediverse would mass defederate them as soon as they said they require I’d to sign up. Then theyve just gone and adopted a platform with less features and lost its major benefit.

Because if it isn’t commercial, it’s much harder to control and monitor.
The Fediverse also doesn‘t require ID or a photo. Nothing could make me use Witter or whatever under these circumstances.
