I asked him “what color were the clouds back then?” and he said they were white. I asked him what happens if I take an orange light and light up something that’s white with it. He ignored me. He went on about how everyone in his age group remembers the Sun being orange, and by me questioning him, I’m calling him and all his peers liars and I’m stupid because I’m younger than him and vaccinated.

These people will believe batshit insane stuff like this but refuse to believe billionaires are running the world and destroying life for all of us. The disconnect is concerning.

Because that’s not a conspiracy theory.

It’s real and backed by facts. Can’t feel smug with facts everyone knows I guess.

See that’s another thing. He fully believes the illuminati are real. But he doesn’t think it’s the people that are obviously close to that truth in reality (Trump, Musk, Putin, Epstein, etc).

Probably, I stopped listening after a while. But I do remember him being A Trump supporter for all the same reasons an edgy teen supported Trump in 2015. ‘But the Republicans were fighting against slavery’, like, yes bitch, group ideology changes over time. 🙄

For some reason thats always how it is.

I think it’s because the obvious answers aren’t interesting. A big thing for conspiracy theorists is that they are part of a group who knows the real story. It’s as much about feeling like they belong to something important and exciting as anything else.

It’s like the people who believe the apocalypse is coming soon. Well if the apocalypse happened 1000 years from now that would be pretty soon (a geological blink of an eye) but it wouldn’t be anywhere near to falling within the lifespan of the believers. That doesn’t work! These people need to feel special, to feel important, to believe their life is meaningful for no other reason than to be alive when an important event happens.

Totally. Ive noticed a pattern with these kooks (much like fox news viewers) they almost always have no control over their life and very little money. So they turn to conspiracies and being a victim so to them their life situation makes sense.
