Is there still room on people’s wrists for the most exciting Kickstarter-backed tech of 2012–2016?
I might seriously grab one of these to replace my Fitbit. I just want something simple to display notifications and let me monitor my heart rate and this looks to be right up my alley. Plus that battery life dwarfs anything else on the market, even if the one with the HR only gets a few weeks, that’ll crush anything available.
Plus it’s open source? Let’s goooo.
a bangle.js is probably a better investment, as it sports the same always-on display and 30 day battery life for about half the price.
The pinetime using infinitime basically does that, albeit without always on and the heart rate monitor only fires off when the screen wakes up or when you go into the applet and click start. But i usually get around 2 weeks of battery life with it, maybe more.
Its probably not as good as this, but on the plus side, it’s like a $25-35 watch before shipping.
Huge fan of the original Pebble. But really appreciate the team here is being upfront about how the Apple walled garden BS is limiting functionality of how this new Pebble would work with iOS now. Not pulling any punches in how much Apple hamstrings outside interoperability.
Man, i loved my old Pebble. It’s amazing they never made any wearable as good.
But I’m not going to buy a new piece of consumer tech while I’m researching how to destroy fascism from the bottom up.
Things you can say on the internet, and also in the bedroom.
Wreck it!
Yeeha, that’s fucking awesome! :-D
The Core Time 2 looks really nice
Although I’m wondering, why only the cheaper one has a Barometer.
That’s something I’d actually like to have - as well :-\
