    The more I read and think about this war, the more I think there are two ways it can go down: Either we fuck off shortly and maybe pretend we won or something, or we struggle in this mess long enough for the dollar to collapse, and then fuck off due to century-defining internal suffering and strife.

    Iran is not a global superpower, but it is also not fucking around militarily, and it’s run by zealots who are comfortable turning the whole region into a flaming shithole just to burn us. I am not seeing a country ready to follow the behavioral patterns our military is built to achieve victory against.

      Us and Israel are trapped in similar proxy war than Russia with Ukrania.

      China and Russia only needs to provide intelligent support and some ammo to make sure both countries bleed to an unacceptable level.

      And us does not have the internal control that Russia exhibits.

      It is a terrible mistake, honestly.

        Yes, in that they made this war happen and are attacking civilian targets in Iran. But Iran is attacking vital civilian infrastructure in countries supporting the USA, and I believe the goal is to make the entire region too fucked up to support American troops, both logistically and politically. Lots of people are going to die or be displaced for lack of water if Iran gets its way.
