The patent called “STATE MANAGEMENT FOR VIDEO GAME HELP SESSIONS” describes multiple examples where a pop-up might ask a player to let a helper take over the gameplay for a while.
Imagine if a user were struggling to find a rare gem in an RPG; if allowed, the helper would take control from the player. They would proceed to chat and guide the user through the process of acquiring the gem.

is that even fun though? part of what makes a difficult boss fight so satisfying is when you finally DO beat it
Sure, if you’re a masochist. Not everyone has the time/energy/willpower to not even get close to finishing a boss after 50 attempts and need to do another 150 more. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve completely given up on because one specific boss does something that I just can’t manage.
Huh. If I don’t like a game I just don’t play it.
What if you like the game, just not that one boss?
Are we ignoring difficulty settings? I don’t mind turning things down.
Final boss? Meh, I’ll look it up to enjoy the final scene and move on if I get pissed enough.
Middle boss? Depends. Does it have a history of being a shitty midpoint and things get better from there? Maybe. If things will escalate I may have to admit that I don’t actually like it.
Early boss? Clearly I’m not going to like what is coming up. Maybe even refund time.
And, honestly, if you’re not speaking in hyperbole about trying a boss 50 times? I think at that point you’re just a glutton for punishment.
I don’t think I’ve ever bothered with a boss for that long. Closest I can say is I’ve done some serious farming in monster Hunter, but even for rare drops 50 is quite a lot.
why did you choose to call yourself a “fuckwit” on lemmy
Someone submitted it into a form at work like 10 years ago.
