“I never thought the intrusive surveillance tools I was building would be used on me!

Also: I heard they couldn’t get legs working in the metaverse so they had two choices: Shut down the metaverse or break everyone’s legs. They went with the former, but only because it was the cheaper option.

Yeah, well, if you’re “just” an Engineer at the Death Star you’re still a willing part of the baddies and complicit in their actions.

Meta tried to recruit me several times, even after I told them that I’d never work for them. They offer decent salaries, but it’s not enough for me to forget morality. I don’t understand why people work there.

They work there because they’re greedy shills. A lot of these people obsess over the “prestige” of working for faang. They’re pathetically shallow people.

Do Meta employees lie about where they work? I suppose how much they make is a factor. If they’re making millions then who cares where they work, but if they’re just making an average salary, maybe they obfuscate. I know I would.

It’s not location tracking, but screen, mouse, and keyboard recording, mainly to train AI agents for the “computer use” capacity.

I think they are suggesting lying to other people (out of shame/embarrassment) not lying to meta. If they are out on a date for example, would they worry that this potential partner would judge them for working at meta and not want to continue with the relationship?

Ahahah, they literally signed up for this.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again:

If you know or encounter anyone who works for Facebook, spit at their feet, honk your imaginary clown nose at them.

That’s all they deserve in terms of social interaction.

If they make mouth noises at you, just apologize for not speaking idiot clown.

I have a suspicion, a hunch, that this is related to their want to make dead people Facebook accounts posting again.

Have you looked at the market of prospects?
What can put in my resume that will guarantee fungibility IF Meta lays me off? None are forcing H1B, but MAMAA entries opens opportunities. Would you rather have worked at a renowned Fortune 500 or some esoteric defunct business that no longer exists?
