“The major problem behind anonymity is toxicity,” argues digital governance minister
Even for people who might use their real name, it’s probably only because they belong to a class of people who don’t need to worry about the vitriolic bullshit bigotry that so many others deal with on a regular basis.
I’m willing to accept that dropping anonymity might cool down some toxicity. But if the cost is removing a very necessary layer of protection for those who absolutely need it, it’s too high a cost to pay.
