Went to the comments to see if this is satire. People buy AI beds? Ein echter AIbtraum
people buy dumb shit all the time… they read the crap on the boxes and ads, and think it’s cool when Infact it’s all lies… idiots never learn
I mean…
They said snoring was an issue, then the app saw after drinking (I guess they give that sort of info normally?) snoring dropped to zero.
Drinking wasn’t likely the only difference, but I was the only one the app identified.
But considering this person bought a 5k ai bed…
They clearly don’t understand anything about what’s happening.
Anyone buying an AI bed is a fucking idiot, and you need to take that into account when people complain about their AI bed. It’s a safe bet negatives are real, but also that the idiot who bought it won’t actually understand anything that’s going on with it.
Wish I could upvote 10x
I love the idea of the eight sleep bed but cannot get over how it’s cloud dependent, to the point that it fucks up a basic schedulewhen the cloud goes down, and I cannot get over the cost of the subscription on top of the ludicrous initial expense.
Now it’s advising alcohol to reduce snoring; that’s just brilliant.
They can be jailbroken for full local control. The internals are raspberry pis. There are projects that will replace the ui with open source alternatives and disable the data collection.
Its a good bed once you strip away the stupid software gimmicks.
I have heard that there’s some cloud breaking work. I keep hoping to find one on marketplace for a reasonable price. I haven’t tried to find a good teardown but at the retail price they must be making bank or their manufacturing process needs work.
I bought a Bedjet about 8 months ago, best 8 months of sleep I’ve ever had. No subscription, no cloud bullshit, it’s integrated into my home assistant with a esp32 bluetooth relay. Worth checking out.
I’d rather sleep on the floor then buy a bed with a computer in it…
Most new beds, “smart” or stupid, are made of foam. The foam collapses in a few years, no matter what they tell you.
Get a traditional spring bed, they’ll last decades. Trust me.
Personally, I prefer foam considerably over springs, and I’m ok with replacing a bed so that it stays moderately hygienic. But there is an environmental cost to that which I don’t love.
Archive works for me. Thanks.
