I accidentally went to see a film in a 4DX. The seats bounced around, even in the trailers. I shared a few wtf glances with the few other people in the cinema who seemed equally bemused.
Being bounced around and having water misted into your face is the exact opposite of what I’d consider ‘immersive’.
I was just thinking about that myself. In that case, it’s a “ride” or an experience. I believe when I went it was a Monsters Inc thing. The mist, the wind, and maybe even 3D glasses. Since it was a unique thing and not simply just watching a movie you could watch w/o all that stuff, it made it interesting.
