    Too many things to count. Not the least of which was the big tech companies ditching functional solutions for flashy new AI solutions that don’t work. Combined with wanting everything to be an always online subscription service. And far too much of it not being interoperable . Basically enshitification is why.

    When the hype started I decided to wait for products to mature, standards to emerge and prices to drop.

      Why not both? I think it better stated people want to own their homes. Smart or otherwise. The promises of the tech bros were always hollow. Giving them access to your home and network, while being subject to their fickle nature for the promised convenience.

      I love my smart home. Especially with home assistant or similar software. And with matter it’s only improving. Affordable, interoperable, local, yours.
