Lots of people removed their reddit comments when reddit sold its content to llm-learning, im addition to the drama around ipo and third party token charges.
Its sad but I can understand people being upset about their expertise they gave freely being monetised without their consent
I got banned on Reddit and can’t delete my comments which is fucking annoying because I had been using thing for like 15+ years and had a shitload of comments. Now they still get to profit off it.
There used to be tools to see removed comments before API policy changes. Do we really think Reddit doesn’t have this built in their database?
I am heavily speculating here of course. But I really think that Reddit has this figured out before exodus occurred and the damage community thought it had done is in vain.
Not necessarily. The value of Reddit comes from it’s massive amount of content. A lot of the traffic is just people searching stuff and Reddit coming up first. By deleting your comments and posts, Reddit becomes less valuable even if they still have that content on their end.

I used a script that replaced the comments with other text.
