This is sort of a real thing: in touristy areas they sometimes have signs warning of pickpockets, which causes people to check their wallet location and alerts the pickpockets where the wallet is for easier snatching.
That’s why you gotta do a full pat down to throw them off.
I just do the macarena every time I see the sign.

I’d assume in that case one would be using their prison wallet.
Pretend your wallet is missing. Start freaking out and accusing others around you of stealing jt.
No sense trying to pickpocket the guy with no wallet
Also makes the actual pickpockets wonder if someone is working the area and better than them, since they didn’t see it happen.
