a US citizen, a registered Republican, a Miami millionaire, and a man who celebrated winning the Colombian presidency by shouting ‘long live the people of Israel.’ Meet your new president, Colombia.
…The winner is a US citizen who became naturalised in 2023, owns a $5.1 million home in Miami, ran businesses in Florida for years, is a registered Republican, and voted for Donald Trump in 2024. He was openly endorsed by Trump, who celebrated his ‘BIG’ victory on Truth Social.
He has pledged to ‘disembowel the left,’ move Colombia’s embassy to Jerusalem, and restore full diplomatic and military ties with Israel. And after declaring victory, his first instinct was to drive around Bogotá in a bulletproof box…
…Then, in one of his victory speeches, he shouted: ‘Long live the people of Israel.’
Not ‘long live Colombia.’ Not ‘long live the Colombian people,’ the ones who had, allegedly, just elected him…
I wanted to quote salient pieces, but the whole article is salient. Anything less than reading it in toto is a serious disservice to self and more importantly, democracy.
Even if the election was legitimately won I shudder to think what will come from a candidate that praises Israel in their victory speech.
And the Salvadorian model of crime control.
Let’s just call it a test run… No let’s call it “This will be America in 2028”. Wait, are we being too subtle?
The fight in Colombia is not over. The left has not conceded. The people have not conceded.
Progressive candidate concedes Colombian presidential election to Trump-endorsed outsider
Fucking sigh… I wonder why he conceded given how suspicious this election is.
I don’t know. Surely our Western media would never mislead us.
We’ll have to wait as more details develop, I suppose.
