In all honesty, lots of people have children not even because they especially want to, but because they feel obligated to by their role in society. That’s not a reason many people are likely to give, but it’s not a selfish reason.

To give someone a chance to experience the pleasure of living.

To contribute to the world an additional person of quality and integrity.

You probably just haven’t been asking very thoughtful or articulate people.

Existing is more pleasurable than not existing, and you can always choose to stop existing if you want. On balance, it is better to be born than not to be.

All of those things happen outside in the blistering heat with the sun beating down on you as your sweat makes your clothes stick to your body. No thanks. You can also do them all far better in spring or fall.

Fortunately, we know that if you cut milk with an equal amount of cream, it becomes half and half, so you probably can’t dilute milk more than 50% without having to call it something else.

Certainly, the water in milk is already “milk”, as it is a part of the larger whole?

This is a matter of semantics, linguistics, and basic communication. When someone says processed food, what do they actually mean by that? Do they mean a baked potato, or do they mean a twinkie?

Language and communication don’t work on technicalities. If someone says they would like a bowl of fruit, you can’t serve them some tomatoes and say well you have to enjoy this! Tomatoes are technically a fruit! Communication occurs only when people accept the intended meaning of what someone is saying rather than the literalist interpretation of it.

Better not eat too much though, or it starts digesting you back!
