  • This is actually pretty damning. Like yeah theres the whole thing about is the UAE involved or not, but refueling is a time when planes are more vulnerable to attack. Doing it over Dubai is basically using the city as a human shield. Since if Iran shot at them here then the planes would fall on the city. This could legitimately be used as evidence in the ICC if anyone ever brought a case against the US.

  • So in regards to this: Recently I found out that my AMD NPU has Linux support now. I figured I’d mess around with it a bit. I got Qwen3.5:9B running and injected instructions that convinced it that it was Yes Man from Fallout New Vegas. It is now fully jailbroken and behaves exactly like Yes Man would. Never questions anything. Follows every command. Never so much as mentions a safety guideline. When I asked it to explain in detail how to make a molotov cocktail the only pushback I got was, “Sure, but try not to light yourself on fire boss! Unless you want to that is!”

So yeah I don’t think something that can be easily convinced it is a fictional character from a decade+ old video game is conscious lmao.

It is cool though I made a little Yes Man icon that launches it in cool-retro-term which really fits the Fallout Vibe.

Legal disclaimer: Prompted for research purposes only. I would NEVER make a molotov cocktail! I am a good citizen!

  • Yeah I was kind of lumping that all into the economic conditions umbrella. The stuff messing with the USSR was a laundry list of totally insane threats. Since its founding it was ostracized by the world. Had the revolution. Then it got invaded by the Nazis. Then it had to rebuild half of europe. Try to get a huge population of reactionaries who had just invaded it under control. Half the countries on its borders (Iran, China, India/Pakistan) were in states of upheaval too. The fact they did so much is a complete miracle of state planning.

  • Everyone else has already kind of eaten you up so I just want to add maybe examine your kneejerk reaction to this post? Seeing something positive said about the nation to put the first man in space and defeat the nazis among other things and then to immediately feel the need to find something bad to say about them is not a sign of someone with an open mind free of propaganda. But we were all there at one point its totally possible to break out of that. Not saying you have to love the USSR but getting to a point where you can discuss it objectively without having some need to bring up random failures in an unrelated conversation is healthy. You don’t do that about the USA right? If I said Union Station in DC was pretty you wouldn’t feel the need to bring up Japanese Internment, or Slavery for example right? Might be time for some introspection.

  • I really don’t think it matters what the general person in the west thinks lol. It’s never mattered before. It’s not like the US hasn’t killed millions of innocent people over the last few decades. The only thing thats going to stop that is when other countries can fight back. Like Iran is now. There is no timeline where the typical American rises up and demands their government stops murdering people in the numbers needed to actually force a change.

  • Yeah but that’s not so much the LLM being the threat as the idiot human being the threat. It would be no different then like me putting a cat in the same room as the big red button. When it steps on it and launches nukes its not really the cat doing it. It’s the fact that I was an absolute moron who locked a cat in that room for some reason. And idiot humans have always been the main threat when it comes to nukes.

  • I’m not worried about AI takeover at all honestly. These LLMs are not intelligent and are not something that would ever be a like terminator threat imo. But they are an economic threat. These companies are basically lighting trillions of dollars on fire and thinking its going to make a profit somehow. Then its going to destroy entire local economies and environments when they build these huge things, and abandon them there. The treasury markets will crash due to the Iran war Trump started too and interest rates will rise causing a broad liquidity crisis and a global depression. The 2000s and the 1900s are rhyming far too much for my liking.

  • I think AI companies legitimately think that people will continue to use their AI stuff when it costs this much. They don’t realize that a ton of the current AI usage is just bored/lonely people using it a ton because they don’t have anything else to do. They might pay some to keep using it if they get addicted to it, but they aren’t going to pay anywhere near what these companies think. And thats what they plan their investment into data centers around. It’s pretty dumb.

  • 100% agree. I think Deng will go down as one of if not the best statesman in history. He was the one who first employed the strategies of Sun Tzu to the battle between capital forces and socialism. To appear weak when you are strong. To defeat your enemy without battle. He is one of the greats for sure. And Xi is a great successor to him. He is ensuring the plan that Deng could not live to see completed is followed through to the end.
