Funny how everyone keeps blaming Valve for this. The price hike wasn’t out of malice, not Valve’s malice anyway. Everything else is having price hikes right now. All for the same reason. Yeah, sales go down when prices go up.
In my region after the price hike Valve still had new stock of the LCD at the original price, even though its no longer manufactured. I decided to get one as it was probably my last chance. Very happy, I should have bought one years ago
I have had a deck since launch and it has aged like a fine wine. I baby it and hope to have it for years to come. Currently playing Pokémon: Polished Crystal on it. Sips battery for what seems like longer than I can play in one sitting.
yeah I just started Silksong on it, its nice to be able to play it places other than my back room
I’d say! I love not having to sit at a desk. I can play it on the couch while the wife plays her switch. Much more comfortable that way.
At this point I’m kinda waiting for a Steam Deck 2
Right? If someone didn’t buy the OG Steamdeck at 399, years ago, they’re not likely to pay almost double for something that’s pretty long in the tooth at this point.
I have a 512gb Gen1 and it was on the high side of pricing $650 at the time but the value was in the convenience and not so much the performance. The Gen3 512gb has OLED but now I couldn’t justify the price tag $800 without getting a lot more boost in performance. For the same price I could get a Legion or ROG handheld that on paper has 1.5 times the performance.
Got my 512 LCD when they were blowing them out. 419 CAD. I used it a LOT. Still do.
Between Slay the Spire, Vamipre Survivors, Dead Cells, Balatro, BallxPit, Persona 5 Royal… I probably have north of 1000 hours on the device. That not even including emulated games because there isn’t an hour counter on them that I know of.
The console has been an insane value and I used the shit out of it when traveling on planes/trains.
I think I have 1200 hours of Elden ring night reign on there alone. And I played your first 4 games a ton on here too. And others. And emulated titles too 🤣. The decks amazing
If you add your emulators to Steam as non-Steam games, it can track your playtime for you. 😜
Switched to RetroDeck recently, and been having a blast playing through Front Mission 3 for the first time.
I’ve been waiting for the ARM-based SD2 since the first one was released 🥲
With all the FEX work they’re doing, I have no doubt it’s coming
To be expected. A system that has more or less been out for around 4 years and now costs hundreds more than it was like a month ago, all while a new system (steam box) just released, even though they have two different main purposes, they overlap.
of course people who haven’t already bought one are just really likely to not buy one, or opt to wait a couple more years for a new version to release.
That’s an AI-authored table if ever I saw one
I mean, pretty easy to make manually with markdown. I make them all the time on joplin
Look at the contents though
I don’t see it, it looks like any other table
The contents are nuts
How so? I’m not saying it’s not ai, it’s totally something an llm would do, but honestly it’s also something I do
Using two different ways of indicating “approximately” (one of which is hard to type), ranges instead of midpoints when also showing differences, weirdness with units…
I’m not saying it’s categorical, but I’ve seen a lot of these sloppy tables from AI whereas I’d never do it, because making a table takes a bit of effort for a human, so I’m only going to do it if the data I want to present actually suits a table. And if it does I’m going to try to present the data nicely.
I debated on purchasing the OLED to replace my LCD Steam Deck recently, but upon seeing the price I noped right out. Instead, I bought a 1Tb SSD, a DeckSight OLED display, and an ExtremeRate Shell replacement for way less than a new OLED.
I ended up buying a second hand white limited edition for 650 and sold my lcd for 400 pretty quickly. I got lucky with that deal.
It’s funny because I bought a new case for my Steam Deck but it’s also a launch model and, it’s like, do I keep it the way it was or play with it?
