Tip your mechanics, people!
Mechanic: gets shit wage despite the owner making bank on basic services…
Barrista: gets lower minimum wage because tips, then tips get stolen by the digital tip system…
Almost like one of them makes a living wage and the other doesn’t…
Why is that our problem as customers, though? Why are we expected to subsidize worker wages instead of employers actually paying the workers that are critical to their success? Why do we let employers get away with the insultingly paltry wage of $2.15/hour?
Don’t get me wrong, if you use a service where workers are reliant on tips, you should tip, but I’d rather just avoid the hassle most of the time. I’d eat out a fair bit more often if not for the not-mandatory-but-totally-mandatory 15-20% extra to subsidize the owner’s greed.
AFAIK baristas start at the normal minimum wage, but servers get that crazy low tipped minimum wage.
I think you’re right, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s irrelevant. It is not my responsibility as a customer to make sure someone’s employees get paid adequately. That’s the responsibility of their employer. If they can’t afford to run their business while paying their workers appropriately, then I’m really sorry your goals didn’t work out, but you’re running a failed business and just haven’t admitted it yet.
We all do what we can. When I’m doing carry out, No way am i going to tip for a non tipped position.
If I’m eating out in a society where servers depend on tips by law basically, i didn’t have to eat out, so I’m going to pay what’s expected of me.

Sure, I do the same thing. I just opt to do that significantly less often than I might otherwise. At least for my service, it has cost restaurants far more than it has saved them on labor.
Not the same service.
Tip culture is a bitch but this type of meme hide the real problem and tried to make us fight ourselves.
In both instances boss are asshole that extract surplus value from our work, burn them
Abolish the Wages System
Holy fuck what an uneducated take!
Stay in school kids.
Stay in school kids.
Never has a comma made such a big difference.
Lmao, well played.
Me fail English?
Not surprised given OP’s post history.
Yeah this was enough for me to tag them as ‘dumbass’ so I can temper expectations whenever I see them post from here on out…
Flagged him misogynist as his every other post is like “women bad, muh”. Genuinely don’t know why some of his posts are still up even.
Just went decently deep through his post history, didn’t see anything even approaching misogyny. Maybe it was way deeper 🤷

Sometimes it’s just the title though (like use your big girl words") or the meme and the title in tangent (like calling women “bad habits”).
lol I gotta say these seem tame but I’m not going to fight you, you’re definitely right.
I’ve seen him post worse, but some was deleted, too. Also, the kinda subtility and the sheer amount add to the overall impression of a person who has internalized a certain basic misogynie that may not be totally out of the norm for society, but notable.
There is a german comedian, Mario Barth, who fills football stadiums with his shows. His humor though is almost exclusively based on gender stereotypes and expressed not in a way of “look, these stereotypes, weird stuff isn’t it?” but “look, this is funny because men are like this and women are like that, haha, aren’t men just better?”
From how I perceive OP he fits perfectly into that crowd.
Wait, this could be one of those bell curve wojak moments - left and right saying “just pay the appropriate wages” and the middle guy doing a paragraph on the necessity of tipping.

Wtf is this a meme spamming bot? Thing posted a ton of trash in the last hour.

Neither does the mechanic turning the wrench on your car.
That $150 isn’t going straight to the mechanic, they get a fraction of that. Rest goes to the support staff, keeping the lights on, and general profits.
Mechanics, especially at dealership, get what’s called flat rate set by the how long manufactures expects a job to take.
For an oil changes, if the mfq estimates 30min, the mechanic gets paid for 30min regardless if the job takes 10 minutes or 2 hours. Guess what they’re incentivized to do? Rush jobs and finding excuses to do shit that doesn’t need to be done.
Need someone else’s help with something? That person doesn’t get paid for helping you out, so guess who doesn’t want to help/train the new guys.
How about tools? Most mechanics are expected to supply their own tool, minus the big shop wide stuff, so most spend tens of thousands of dollars over the years.
I remember a job add on the radio “guaranteed 60 hours and work on saturdays”.
Realistically I’d love “mandatory tips” to go away all together. People who are hired to a job, do their job and get paid by their employer. Anything on top is extra. Both the mechanic and baritsa should be paid proper wages from the start.
You’re right. And the mechanic probably makes 1/4 of that. The shop doesn’t even make 150 an hour by the time you count for costs.
