Votes reflect values. Votes are how we choose leaders, which cause direct impact on people’s lives. And I see no problem with, say, a trans person cutting off someone who voted for leaders who consistently dehumanize them and seek to destroy their access to medical care.
Not to mention, a vote is never just a vote. It’s also years of arguments at the dinner table, snide insults, and other terrible behavior.
Not when they did it to make your marriage illegal, then posted it on Facebook, disrespecting both your spouse and marriage.
Also, it has been two years of pure hell where I work to deal with his administrations shit. We’re about to be laid off every other second because he gives all the money to ICE and the military, and then cancels science efforts and programs constantly.
Not to mention that in inadvertent ways, Trump’s shenanigans have now costs me multiple hundreds of thousands on real estate losses.
It does depend on the subject of disagreement. Given the audience, we know what the topics are, and thinking it’s because of just a vote and not what the vote represents is just funny to say. Like saying states seceded from the Union because of their rights. So close, but missed the mark.
Cutting your parents off for voting for someone you don’t agree with is pretty ridiculous.
Most times the act of voting is just the final confirmation for the world view and ethics they hold.
And cutting someone off because, for example they hate yourself or your friends and want to actively make your life worse, is in my opinion fine.
