I love simple, dumb jokes like this.
Was visiting my parents this week and at some point, we were talking about air fryers. Now, we’re German and my parents don’t speak English, but the term “Air Fryer” is still a thing here for marketing bullshit reasons.
Then my mum had to repeatedly try to pronounce that correctly. And I just saw my dad getting more and more confused, because it sounded a lot like “Er Freier”.
“Er” is German for “he”. But a “Freier” is, well, the customer of a prostitute.

Meine Mutter war auch dann doch ziemlich entzaubert, als wir ihr erklärt haben, dass “Air Fryer” wortwörtlich einfach nur “Luft-Fritteuse” bedeutet. 😅
This is good. I like this one.
I like it because it’s victimless, at no one’s expense, and that’s actually quite rare.
Except for the poor friar. Let’s just hope they weren’t frozen wings and he held them up long enough for them to thaw and melt over him. He probably would have preferred when he was a dryer friar prior.
I will not stand for thus kind of disrespect and lack of reverence for friars. You think sacred titles are a joke?!
Alternatively, feigning anger over the disrespect towards fryers.
I’m thinking requirement for tonsure, this hair cut here, is the result of male patternly bald older men resenting younger men’s full heads of hair.
Unlikely, due to the great variation in shapes of tonsure in different orders and at different times.
Do you have a guide? I’ve only ever seen this version, which could be just be a hollywood convention.
Is there a deep fryer? He’s the one who is more philosophical than the others?
He could have had it all if he’d just roll them there, according to Adele’s masterpiece
When the Deep Friar meets the Pan Seer…
Gold, jerry. Gold.
That’s the comic, this is the comic.
I don’t get it
Sounds like “Try putting them in the air, Friar.”
“friar” is apparently a monk of specific Christian orders. From French “frère”, which just means “brother”.
Oh. Now I get it. Actually pretty funny Thank you for this addendum
Yeah, I was a bit surprised that no one bothered to explain what a “friar” is, like I wouldn’t even expect all native speakers to know that word, depending on their culture. 😅
And the funny thing is… I’m french. I would have gotten it if I recognise that friar is a bad pronunciation of “frère”
Friar Peter here to explain the joke.
Lol this makes more sense. I thought the monk assumed “air fryer” was a slangy term for the sun
Oh. That’s all? I got that part immediately but I was expecting something else
It’s boomer humor. It’s not meant to be deep or anything.
The correct term is dad joke and is a timeless humor not exclusive to any generation.
Since when is wordplay boomer humor?
Boomer humor comes in all shapes and sizes.
Sure, boomers had puns. So did the silent generation, gen X, and Millennials.
Gen Z also has puns. They’re not the dominant feature… but they’re there.
“Try putting them in the air, Friar.”
He then bludgeons him to death for blasphemy.
Gotta do it outside, if your faith is strong the good Lord will give it a little zap from the sky
Ok, Dad! Haha
GOOD
Took me a second.
Same, I scrolled past and had to come back to upvote!
