Can we talk about how stupid modern iPhones are? I can’t place it face down because the screen gets scratched. I can’t place it on its back because a camera lens is the resting point. To completely alleviate these concerns, I have to buy a phone case that costs half of the purchase price of the phone? I’m swapping to android for other reasons, but I will not miss the apple ecosystem for their design philosophy slowly becoming a fat load of garbage
The fuck kinda dirt you got on your desks? Most modern high-end smartphones have really hard glass. If anything, the screen protectors people put on are much softer and get scratched easier (but are easily replaceable)
I’m also not sure where you’re getting 20-40€ modern iPhones for, but I’m quite jealous
This used to be true but recently they started cheaping out. My Samsung Swhatever it is had glass scratches within a month of my buying it. My friend and my partner both bought the same phone and had the same experience - we had never had screen scratches on phones for like 10 years prior, so the glass is definitely shitter. No idea about iPhones though.
I’ve been going caseless for years now. I just keep it in my pocket or on the charger 99% of the time. It has some minor microscratches from about two years of use, but I also don’t drop my phone and know not to drag it on its screen.
I’ve had one of my dozen or so phones over the years get a hairline crack, and I still used it for another year before replacing it due to performance. I honestly don’t know what everyone is doing to their phones, but I’ve been careful/lucky enough to not have to deal with the extra bulk. I personally can’t stand the way a case feels.
People selling cases make bank right after a phone is released. Cases are few and far between, and expensive to boot. Older phones have plenty of case options, all for fractions of the prices. If you absolutely must buy a new phone, look for the case online.
I don’t like it, but that’s why. You’re simply not supposed to use them without a case.
I will say though, I don’t know where you’re getting your cases from, but I swear by the Spigen ones, they’re usually £10-20 and I have bought one the day I buy a new phone for probably the past 10 years or so.
I’ve not smashed a screen since I started, I used to have to talk to insurance once a year before. That £15 every couple of years has saved me hundreds of pounds in insurance excess fees.
yeah, i only got a fancier-than-spigen case on this one because i wanted a better handle/stand for the phone, and my spigen ones i got just had cheap thin plastic for a kickstand that kept breaking. also my phone now has a slider that goes over the camera and that i think is pretty slick, and these racing stripes add wind resistance.
What? Are you genuinely saying that the Apple 1 and, slightly more topical, the original iPhone were bad devices? Because I can’t disagree with you any harder than I currently am.

The camera lens is coated with sapphire. You really don’t need to worry about scratching it.
Also yes, camera bumps are dumb.
If I’m setting it on the ground and on stone, I definitely do.

Glass is harder than ever, but the body on Pros went from glass to anodized aluminium so it’ll scratch around the edges, but won’t crack

You’re either paying way too much for your cases or need to hook me up with your phone guy…

Buy used, always. Check Craigslist and other local sellers.
? My case was $12. Don’t be a sucker
They’re designed to have a case now

I don’t even use a screen protector

but spigens work pretty good
Smart phones. Cant live with them, cant live without them.
What is the deal with the smartphones?..
Slowly? Uhhhhhhh, been like that since day 1.
