DigitalOcean joins as a Founding Corporate Patron with $3 million
DigitalOcean is joining the Omacom Foundation as a Founding Corporate Patron, contributing $1 million a year for three years! That’s a $3 million commitment to the development, maintenance, and spread of Omarchy. What an incredible vote of confidence in the beautiful, fun & agentic OS we’re building.

One of my favorite facts about O’Marky is how the firewall, one of two security features in this distro serious about security, wasn’t even enabled. They didn’t announce this gap to their users, just quietly marked it fixed. But they failed to fix it until well into the next major release.
Oh, hi marky
omarchy is a bastardisation of what arch can offer.
if dhh really cared about open-source, linux and arch, he should be using his platform to educate a wider audience on how to customise their own installs.
reality is that he’s slop personified.
First time I ever heard anything about DHH (the main person that is now behind Omarchy) was when he announced he will stop using Typescript for one of his big projects, because the strict typing system makes it less fun than Javascript.
That argument is on the same level as “seatbelts in cars are bad because they restrict my movement”, i.e. completely inane bullshit no sane person could take seriously.
Somehow this evidently incompetent person stumbled into enough success to now be able to spout hateful political messages without serious repercussions.
Usually when people start spouting hateful messages I lose respect for them, but there was nothing to lose in this case.
fuckin… why…
Fascists, that’s why.
Even politics aside, I don’t understand why all these companies are donating to Omarchy. It doesn’t actually offer anything worth thinking about… which makes me think it’s about the politics.
A. many of the donors are friends of DHH B. the entire “distro” is full to the brim with AI. it’s built completely via AI. so these people are looking for an ROI on it. they want this to be THE consumer AI OS. and I guarantee you it won’t be free for much longer.

Dude says xenophobic and racist shit, thats all they need to hear in 2026.
On a real note though this looks like corporations trying to cash in on the up and coming Linux rise, but this explicitly does not work like that
It’s in the blurb. Pretty sure when he says “agentic OS”, he wants it to be the default OS for consumer AI crap. All you have to do these days is just hint at AI and companies will fall over themselves to throw money at you.
I think I need to start a distro at this point. See if I can get a bunch of enterprise donators… Though I suspect I’m not white supremacist enough for them. But I AM a white male so if I just shut the fuck up maybe they’ll give me money anyways hoping that perhaps I share their views?
you can do it way more easy than DHH did. Just build a NixOS configuration and you’re done. hell NixOS will even build it to an ISO for you. you can literally have it do all the things Omarchy does for a fraction of the size.
Oh I specifically meant I’d have to do an AI one to get all that corporate funding. I know how easy it would be to create “yet another distro”. But I figured I’d actually go a bit further and potentially do a little more than Omarchy for better AI integration, while still allowing the user to 1) not opt into AI in the first place, 2) choose a level of configuration depth that fits them if they DO opt in. I’ve got some ideas, but they’re still in my head (for a long time now) so I need to actually write it all down. Prefer not laying it out here because I don’t want DHH’s lackeys to find this somehow and steal my ideas, but of course if I deem them achievable in the first place, the things I want to build most would be distro agnostic and GPL’d because there’s more benefit in having others use it and extend it than in locking it to one paltry distro that has, at the moment of writing, zero users because it doesn’t exist yet.
I start to believe that he paid the YouTubers money in order for them to do these videos listed on the website.
Fuck giving money to xenophobes. Especially ones who can’t code for shit and don’t understand basic Linux security.
I love this Omarchy thing: it’s helping separate the wheat from the chaff.
I only wished there was a site that listed all the “bad” guys… they seem to be way more numerous than I imagined.
The omarchy website lists them.
Are you baiting me?
Should Drew himself be on that list? Given: https://dmpwn.info/
that list is depressing. I just unfollowed 3 of them. Thank you.
this is a good start: https://drewdevault.com/weird-guys/
WTF is this list?
ThePrimeagen: Popular Twitch streamer and YouTube personality whose content isn’t all that weird, but who is publicly associated with a bunch of weirdos in this list. He’s a speaker at Omacon 2026, David Heinemeier Hansson’s conference for fashy weirdos,[source] and a donor to Andreas Kling’s Ladybird,[source] and otherwise maintains associations with and financially supports people in a little network of weirdos.
I don’t consider ThePrimeagen a weird guy. This does more harm than being useful. Therefore I cannot trust this list. I don’t like public lists of shame anyway, as this encourages witch hunting of people he personally does not like.
nah he is a cryptofascist, also if you can’t tell you may be one too
I watched him for a while. And I’d say 95% of the tims, it’s fine. Chitchat, banter, technical things. But then the remaining 5% of the time, there’s suddenly a weird off the cuff remark, something that really seems like a dogwhistle, or just otherwise strange turn of phrase that makes me go huh? and rewind.
I know that’s not a lot individually, but over time it added up enough that I stopped watching.
Do you have any specific examples? I have not seen him enough to find any
My problem with such a list is, that you can always find ans justify a reason to put it here. Most people reading these lists aren’t familiar and have no personal experience and opinion, but will take his word for. If you stopped watching him because of reasons, its your opinion and that is valid. I am not against that! But people looking at these lists will avoid them and think they are bad persons. Yes in some cases they probably are, but the viewer cannot know (that’s why they look into these lists).
Tell me one person who is not weird.
My problem with such a list is, that you can always find ans justify a reason to put it here.
This is solved by literally asking the person why they said / did something.
Most of the time they’ll say they weren’t aware of the problem, didn’t mean to lend credence with their name to the problematic thing, and undo/rescind what they originally did/said.
When it’s obvious the person was ignorant and on having learnt information would have acted differently, they’re removed from those lists.
As DHH’s behavior started becoming known amongst the greater developer community, Prime did an interview with him essentially praising him. Prime’s fans asked him why he did that and if he knew about DHH’s issues and Prime stayed silent. 6 months later he started trying to glow up DHH again, and he’s still trying to do it.
At this point, Prime’s silence speaks volumes.
As said, my point isn’t about Prime what he did or not, I am talking about the having such a list in the first place. This is not solved by literally asking the person. Imagine 10 thousand people see the list and everyone asks about it? No. Such lists are bad for society, they always were. This can be misused.
I say it again: Nobody should create and publish a list of “bad” (the word “weird” is just used as a synonymous here) persons just by personal opinion, different views in politics and such. That’s my issue. I just picked Prime as an example because I did not agree on that point, but that is not my main argumentation. Anyone having an issue with him is fine, having an issue is not my problem. Having such lists and publish them is my problem.
Imagine 10 thousand people see the list and everyone asks about it? No. Such lists are bad for society, they always were. This can be misused.
We already know that they can be misused and have solutions for it.
First we validate the claims in the list and counterclaims against the list. Secondly, lists that are false or outdated get put on ignore lists, and lists that are shown to be correct and up-to-date end up going on trusted lists. Thirdly, those ignore and trust lists are put through the same process themselves. Forth, new inputs constantly come through at the lowest level which means that lists (and metalists) themselves are always updating. This means they can never reach an equilibrium or a top level list which could allow a trusting trust attack. It’s trust but verify the whole way down.
And we know it works.
That’s how we have email anti-spam lists, adblocking lists, malware lists, etc…
Most of the time i see clips of him it’s some sort of rage baiting or shit stirring, which may not be weird, but is shitty and not worth my time. The thing you quoted also says he’s not weird directly but is associated with weird people 🤷♀️
Do you watch and follow him? If not, then off course all you see controversial stuff, because that is what makes it popular. And I do not consider his content to be rage baiting and shit stirring, maybe when making jokes. So taking it out of context could seem to be like that. I follow two channels of Primeagen and watch him for years and cannot agree with your statement. Also every person is associated with weird people. This list is one of the worst lists to put people into shame or as warning to he public, nobody should do that! This list needs to be taken down quickly before it does more harm. Because anyone reading it comes to conclusions like you.
prime is so normal that he has multiple interviews with DHH 🤣
👍
Several of those are fairly borderline. You would think Drew Devault of all people would understand that its ok to not be 100% squeaky clean.
I’m not saying that list doesn’t include a lot of creeps, but maybe he shouldn’t have included “donated to an organisation that includes someone who is antagonistic” and “is an average American Christian” along with the “fervent defender of paedophilia”.
Well, looks like I’m migrating my projects this weekend.
Same. Someone on Mastodon gave praises to https://upcloud.com/. They’re also on Masto @upcloud@glitchy.upcloud.world
Their VPS plans look decent: https://upcloud.com/global/products/cloud-servers/#plans
What’s up with all the bald men though?
Edit: nvm, only half of them are bald.
As a bald man myself, I can not speak to their specific Baldman tribe.
Also bald. I think growing a beard at this time is necessary to avoid the Lex Luther, Jeff Bezos rich evil billionare look.
Agreed. Then dye it some bright color to really distance yourself from the villain look
Not a bright colour… Ventiblack lolol
Whoops. Looks like I’m moving the last of my customers away from them.
I just left this comment, might be an alternative for you: https://programming.dev/comment/25901788
agentic
How about no
This isn’t programming related but i want the omarchy fundraiser person helping fund my project. Serriously i only need like 1%
Say some racist things and you will get money. That’s how it works.
Step 1 : fork open source project.
Step 2 : customise it a little bit.
Step 3 : network with racists and reinforce their opinions
Step 4 : profit
easy. get Claude Code to build you a quickshell plugin for their plugin store and then gloat about it on youtube and twitter. that’s how everyone else is doing it.
Glad I deleted my account a few days ago.
Ugh.
