A youth-led movement in Germany has called for demonstrations in major cities of the country on October 31. The group has categorically distanced itself from the violence that took hold in France.
I mean, it’s hard to say that the violence is an important or effective part of the French protests. Really the important part of a protest like this is disruption, and while this can be violent it doesn’t have to be. There’s nothing inherently violent about a general strike, for example. It’s fine as long as the protestors have an concrete and realistic idea of what they’re trying to do and how it’s meant lead to what they want.
