We know cats dream but not what they dream about. But it would make sense to me that anthropomorphic cats- cat-human hybrids, giant cats that walk around like people, people with cat heads- would be a very common cat dream trope. So something they have only seen before in the chased-by-the-catpeople trying-to-turn-them-into-a-catperson nightmares they remember having all the time as a kitten. They haven’t had one of those dreams for years. Feeling quite secure that catperson is not real and catperson can’t hurt them. And then…

I always assume they dream of world domination. When they’re awake they realize it’s not feasible because they’re too small and don’t have the opposable thumbs needed to operate tools.

So maybe the cat is freaked out because he thinks this cat person is an existential threat to all life on Earth.

lol, made me remember, a friend of mine made a cat mask out of paper in school and decided to wear it at home one day. His - otherwise very very affectionate - cat flipped the fuck out running around the house, hissing and making a scene.

Was kinda funny, but we figured it was a rather stressful occurrence for his car…

    Image checks out.

this tracks. i got a pair of furry ears from a friend a while back and the first time my cats saw me in them they both got pretty scared, to the point that they fluffed up their tails and did the sideways posture trying to look bigger. that was two very loving and affectionate cats seeing their human wearing ears in their home where they feel safe and comfortable. it would be absolutely terrifying for them to be in this situation and theyd probably freak out just as much. people forget that cats are prey animals too and they have the prey instinct like any small animal, so seeing an evidently large predator they arent familiar with will make them freak out.

On top of that, cats are very territorial, they don’t like the idea of a cat they don’t know sharing their space. Some even won’t tolerate cats they do know.

      EDIT: grammer

I’ve seen videos of house cats meeting big cats with a fence or bars between them and usually the house cat is more aggressive or acts like it doesn’t care.

I think part of that is they’re smaller. Kind of like how most people get scared of insects or snakes.

But also the cat probably says, bitch… you’re the one behind bars and I’m out on vacation.
