I know it’s a shitpost but am I going to be only one to point out its truth social? It’s the red tick, not the blue tick. I saw that and didn’t even need to read it.

Took one glance at this TFDR word blob and thought “There’s no way this geriatric wrote all of that himself”. Clicked on the image and, what do you know, there’s an em-dash in the second, rambling, sentence. Cool. I think I hate mecha-Hitler’s dementia vomit as much as the original’s.

I can only imagine this as dictation and speech-to-text, cleaned up by this week’s press person.

Money says Natalie takes notes all day, compiles these thing and prints them for Trump’s approval.

In any case, he writes very few of his own posts. Turns out having advancing dementia kinda hurts one’s ability to reason and type.

Bold of you to assume he reads anything that comes across the desk

Natalie’s a special case. She compiles his bullshit day and night, writes a post, gets permission to send it. No, Trump can’t effectively read, and he couldn’t before the dementia took hold, but at least he was considered “literate”, albeit at a low level.

I’m not reading all that. But some time ago, Maher went to the White House, where he had dinner with Trump. Then he went on someone else’s show (maybe Colbert?) to say how nice Trump was in person, and how he was different than at his speeches, because that was all just an act and a character he plays. Now many of Maher fans are left leaning, or consider themselves to be left leaning. I have pointed out to them on many occasions how I’ve given up on Maher decades ago because of his shit takes on pretty much everything. Sometimes he’ll even have a good opinion, but the way he goes about presenting it is garbage. Anyway I can’t see how a lot of his fans could still be liking him after such praise of Trump after that dinner. And if Trump has now turned on him after that, then that’s even funnier leopards. So fuck them both.

tl;dr: spaces around em-dash tell nothing about text being LLM-generated

        Non-tl;dr ahead:

Shouldn’t em dash be not surrounded by spaces—like this—as per grammatical | punctuational | formatting | typography rules? I’ve always tried to use em-dash as seen fit (at first relying on some websites to turn two consecutive hyphens – like here – into one. Though at first I didn’t even notice, and now actively despise how it looks like without spaces, so mostly use it like in the post — here is an example. LLMs are supposedly good at these writing things, as I’ve heard.

Did a little web search and yeeeeeeeeeah. Apparently there exist “styles” which suggest both variants, with the more general rule just being consistent. At least for English. In my language spaces are required (except between dates), so apparently it’s not so much about personal preference.

So yeeeeah, it actually tells nothing about this rambling being AI-generated, LLMs (looked through my usage too) use both variants. Sorry if I wasted your (reader) time, hope you learned a little along the way.

        Still won’t read original post.

The em dash is weird but an LLM would have produced a coherent and clean text, not something like “I never watch his show” followed by three paragraphs of how he watches his show (quick read, I didn’t actually read the rant), with digressions, random capitalized nouns and typos like DESPARATELY

I’m guessing iPhone autocorrect? Maybe if you type two dashes consecutively it writes the em dash?

It really wouldn’t be hard to tell an LLM to write like he xeets. You have half of the prompt done already in your comment. I’m betting it’s slop.

Wait until the midterms are done. Trump croaking before election day might give the GOP an undeserved boost.

It would also mean that Vance is restricted to being elected to one term after this one. If Vance takes office before January 20 at noon, it counts as a term for him because it will be just over 2 years.

I can’t tell if that’s real or not. On one hand it’s obviously a hilarious parody. On the other hand several news outlets are reporting on it.
