No, people are not complicit when they do not denounce war crimes or a genocide. Neither you nor I are complicit in the genocides in Sudan, Ethiopia, Gaza or Myanmar. We are not complicit because we did not have substantial means to help or support or prevent them.

Your double standards for Jewish people are unfair and, with the odd commandeering tone of your message, seem to come from some high horse that you placed yourself on.

Israel claims they are doing it for all Jews. they are implicating all the jews in the world in their genocide.

I’m not part of it, I’m Jewish and was at one point Israeli. I refuse to attend a zionist synagogue. and there are many zionist synagogues, Chabbad for example, might as well count as Israeli embassies. they literally include IDF in their regular prayers. while my synagogue prays for Palestine.

double standards? didn’t we spent the last couple decades blaming all Muslims for 9/11? agree that it’s a bullshit standard, but that’s what happens when a subgroups tries to coopt your entire group in horrible crimes.

fuck. most Zionists aren’t even Jewish. but they claim that it is for the jews. and then any criticism they get, they call antisemitism. using diaspora jews as human shields.

Yes. every synagogue must renounce zionism. double standards? I also expect church to denounce pedophillia, and homophobia, which many modern churches do. don you this a mosque in the US to openly celebrate 9/11 would be a good thing? of course not, and if it were it would closed immediately. but many synagogues can openly celebrate a genocide or even actively and materially participate in it and it is “accepted” by society. you sir have the double standards.

Dear Albert, I see that you have paid a high personal cost for your activism. And that this may be why your comment sounds commandeering, out of exasperation.

Still, I believe it is unfair to expect Jews or rabbis in Berlin to have to talk about Palestine or Israel at every instance. It is okay that they talk about their life and community, which is what the rebbe in the video did.

I’m going to strongly disagree. It is a core part of judaism to fix the world. and ignoring a genocide done in your name is absolutely the opposite.

yes, in abstract, no one should go out and distance themselves from crimes committed by other people. But in practice??

Jewish voices have been among the loudest antizionist voices, however, synagogues must do the same.

however many synagogues have close ties with Israel, from summer camps, to advocacy. Some synagogues even conduct real estate sales for Palestinian stolen houses. Israeli politicians regularly attend Chabbad conferences. those are not neutral, they are genocidal propagandists. And by now silence is complicity

I doubt Tzedek chicago gets any hatred besides from other zionist communities.
