    “Three time trump voter”

    Shoulda just stopped right there.

    Three. Times.

History was always there, ready to be picked up and used as a mirror. Trump has always been who he was. Cruelty, nationalism, and prejudice haven’t changed definitions. There were no secrets.

These douchenozzles are all the same. They were perfectly happy to let trump F everything up as long as it was everyone else getting F’d. As soon as it inconveniences them, they suddenly find some kind of righteous morality.

Yes. That’s partially because many Americans are racist (or at least willing to throw someone else under the bus) and weak-minded, and partially because our education has been intentionally dismantled by the parasite class.

Now, are you more interested in lauding your own moral superiority over them (thereby making them feel unwelcome in spaces and communities able to enact actual positive change) or are you more interested in building working class consciousness?

      You have to pick one.

If you’re a marginalized / vulnerable person, by all means stay away from these people because yes, they are largely indoctrinated garbage and will probably make you feel unsafe. And you can disregard everything I’m saying in this comment because it’s not my position to tell you how to respond to that danger.

But if you’re a white liberal (not exactly a longshot guess here on Lemmy), then that is your responsibility. You aren’t going to dismantle whiteness by finger-wagging and offering “I told you so” on the internet, you’ll dismantle it by showing them another, better way.

It’s either that or you round them up and kill them, and I don’t think that would be a particularly beneficial approach (except for those convicted Nuremberg style). Otherwise, these people aren’t going away and will continue to effect the trajectory of our country. You can try to help heal them, or you can deal with the consequences of them continuing to exist as a moral, spiritual, and emotional black hole.

You said it yourself, they aren’t going away. The only way to have a semblance of a fix for this situation is to repair all the things the parasite class broke, and that’s education, financial security (jobs, wages, and things like single-payer healthcare), and time. That will stop most of the overt destructive hatred from the Right.

This is like the old racists from the South. They won’t go away. They exist. They refuse to change unless they’re forced to by a family member marrying a minority or something equally life-event changing, and even then it’s iffy. What improves things is the next generation to having it better. They get exposed to different people an have a better education, they get the stability and have less opportunity to jump on the racist bogeyman-wagon.

We’re not going to fix the current generation. They’re broken.

Unfortunately it’s going to be hard to fix anything at all with the Dems being witting failures, the Republicans dismantling everything and instituting fascism, and the geopolitics and economics shifting away from the US leaving us in worse condition to build things right.

“Fix”, probably not, “improve”, maybe so. They’re still sick, exploited humans deserving of love. Unless they’ve actually killed someone in an ICE detention camp or something, then they should be swinging from a (judicially mandated) rope.

I pretty much agree with everything you said though, yeah. I don’t actually think the US is salvageable, I think the empire will collapse and the country will probably balkanize. It’s a terminally ill nation, and how could it not be, with what it ate growing up? I’m just trying to help who I can on the way down and reduce the number of future deaths however I can.

Nah, fuck em. If they could be so easily manipulated into violating the social contract, then they don’t deserve the benefits till they can prove they won’t keep trying to fucking kill us all.

Talking about “the social contract” when you (presumably) voted for an avowed genocidaire like Holocaust Harris is chronically out-of-touch. Ask Palestinians if they feel you’re upholding the social contract among humanity in general.

You are, ironically, defaulting to a mindset which is the product of white supremacy / colonial styles of thinking in order to combat a different symptom of white supremacy. “Everyone who does not think like me must be destroyed.” And yet we both know you’ll never have the courage to do any of that destroying yourself (and it would be remarkably stupid if you did, because these people aren’t the ones calling any shots in this country whatsoever).

And if you’re a white liberal, stop being so dramatic. “They’re trying to fucking kill us all!!!” No they aren’t, they’re trying to extract money from you. Same as every other administration in America since they concluded their holocaust against the indigenous people here.

Your mode of thinking is a dead-end and you must know that too. These people will continue to do harm until they either die or feel loved / accepted / safe / like their needs are met. You want to feel better about yourself more than you want to make the world better for others. I think that’s extremely pathetic and you’re just as much of a moral failure as they are.

Drop the “Genocide Harris” crap. Completely irrelevant to the discussion and deliberately insulting. The alternative was trump and look how much good that did, arguably orders of magnitude worse. Don’t be stupid.

              Nah.

              Holocaust Harris

More people died in Palestine during the Joe Biden administration than the Donald Trump administration. They’re both Zionazi parasites, but just like Red MAGA, Blue MAGA hates basic quantifiable facts.

How are you feeling about the verifiable reality that the Genocide Joe / Holocaust Harris administration killed more human beings in Palestine than the Donald Trump administration has?

I’m sorry that you feel that facts are Republican. If it’s any consolation, I hate them just as much as I hate your preferred genocidal imperialists.

Do you actually know how your statement is misleading or are you just repeating your propaganda? You can’t even acknowledge that half hearted support from the Dems isn’t as bad as full throated support from republicans but honestly I’m not terribly concerned for stupid middle eastern forever holy wars since the last time Trump was in office he killed millions of Americans right here in America where I live and am rightfully primarily concerned with. At this rate glass Jerusalem mecca and the fuckin vatican for all I care, I am primarily concerned with stopping and reversing the fascism happening here right now because I live here and religious people will always use their gods to justify killing people. And if we can fix things here that would generally involve cutting military support to every genocidal regime. Now do another both sides ya fuckin republicant.

I mean to be fair he gave a good explanation i thought, slowly realizing over time that he was wrong. Yeah is he a dumbass for voting for him three times, of course. But apparently half our country is dumbasses and understanding how their minds work is key to surviving in this dumbass country.

Because something Trump did affected him personally. He hasn’t changed his beliefs or become a better person. He’s just a selfish asshole who got fucked over.

I read the article. Nothing in there contradicts my statement. His only stated reason for supporting Trump was that he was the “real deal”. Trump’s platform was entirely based on hateful bullshit every time he ran. The logical conclusion to take from that is he supported Trump because of the hateful bullshit.

Until either Democratic or Republican party primaries produce decent candidates who prioritize the American people the general elections are irrelevant.
