By the end of the year you will have someone cheering/complaining because over 500 people did/didn’t die in a natural disaster…

Am I the only person who assumed “esteemed” was sarcastic?

Nope. I considered putting it in quotes rather than keeping the original title when crossposting, but thought it was obvious enough without them.

      Guess I overestimated people 😮‍💨

Dammit, I SHOULD have added quotation marks rather than count on people detecting the sarcasm dripping off of it! 🤦🏻

I’ve never seen the New York Post described as “esteemed” before.

Can anyone explain to me how “prediction” markets aren’t just straight up gambling? Did some “it’s legal to gamble outside Nevada, Indian Reservations and Atlantic City” bill pass that I didn’t hear about?

It’s gambling for industry insiders that want to do some insider trading.

They are. Except not really, since there’s so much insider “betting” that the majority of money “won” is by people who knew the result in advance.

It seems to be a long term trend that gambling has spread much further, but I think this supreme court case was a point where it became essentially up to each state now to allow gambling or not.
