Not getting on a soap box or anything. Just saying this administration is not a representative of Americans.

I don’t think Iran have conducted an attack on the United States yet, so I guess it’s BS that Iran struck first.

Please let me know if Iran did bomb somewhere in New Jersey or Wyoming or whatever.

I wasn’t really sure, so I went looking to Al Jazeera:

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/7/8/why-have-us-iran-strikes-resumed-and-what-does-it-mean-for-peace-talks

According to their reporting, all sides have exercised some violence throughout the ceasefire, but the most recent clash was primarily initiated by ships traveling in an area that Iran had labeled a no-go zone. The ships refused to comply with orders to change course, so Iran shot at them.

In the future if you have questions about what’s going on in the Middle East and are looking for a version that isn’t heavily biased towards US propaganda, Al Jazeera is a pretty reliable source.

I’d probably look to European news sources instead of a country that’s all but directly involved in the conflict (even if unwillingly). Al Jazeera is a pretty good source overall though

What’re your recs? I used to sometimes check out the BBC but at some point they paywalled it. I like the Guardian, but I’d be glad for more suggestions.

I meant to say that Al Jazeera’s bais leans against the US, which is useful for getting alternative takes.

Just FYI al Jazeera and al mayadeen are qatari funded. They are not without their biases and qatar has been hit by Iranian ordnance.

Still much better than like cnn though.

I thought it was implied in my comment that I was saying that it’s biased in more or less the other direction, but I realize I should’ve written that out.

It’s more complicated than “the other direction”. They are Arabic sources so they are at least not parroting hasbara propaganda. But they are funded by Qatar, a US vassal state actively participating in the war on Iran.

As with any news outlet, one should analyze the perspective from which they are reporting. They are not going to be great on Iran at the moment but still not to be discarded.

The US started a war with Iran by assasinating their leader and murdering school children.

No attack by Iran in unprovoked until the US formerly surrenders.

Israel assassinated their leader with the help of the US. The US murdered the schoolchildren all by themselves.

It’s just Trump getting close to a microphone: chaos, corruption, cruelty. It doesn’t make sense to talk about this war in a sensible way, it was illegal to begin with, unnecessary, it had no exit plan, no achievable goal… the entire thing was sh1t.

I used to watch NBC with Lester Holt and it was fair to each side. Now it the new guy it seems the whole network bent the knee. Only one who I haven’t really seen do it is ABC. Though I usually watched that channel for Kimmel.

When? This most recent round? It seems like Iran attacked some ships through the straight, which, I may be wrong was still, for better or worse, locked down by them. But this whole fiasco was started by the us and Israel.

If I am wrong on the “straight” details please let me know!
