gathering evidence of wrongdoing against you in order to be able to defend yourself in court against someone doing you harm is not the same as recording someone having sex for sexual gratification.
EDIT : If I take a picture of someone robbing my house when they are naked, am I getting “nudes” of them?
I am utterly devoid of any sympathy for a cheater. Sorry but it takes a lot of shameless gall to sue someone or press charges for anything after they catch you cheating.
She was the victim in the case of her husband recording her without her consent. And he’s the victim in the case of their marriage breaking because of infidelity.
One wrong doesn’t justify another wrong.
Let me ask you - how far do you think he should be allowed to break the law in order to deliver punishment to his wife by his own hand?
Sure, I guess. I suppose it is also illegal for me to beat the shit out of someone who tried to mug me. It’s against the rules for a kid bullied in school to fight back. Certain actions invite harsh consequences. Doesn’t mean it’s not an entirely appropriate consequence to suffer for having cheated on someone.
People don’t learn their lessons without consequences. And anyone who would violate someone’s trust like that certainly has a lesson that needs learning. I don’t get why you’re defending a cheater here, it is a very immature position to take in this situation and such an obvious and reasonable consequence for this person.
Because people are justifying abuse when it’s very rarely, if ever, justified.
One person’s actions don’t justify your abusive actions regardless of how hurt you are.
Cheaters make terrible decisions that hurt their partners. I’m not defending that. But that’s independent of these revenge fantasies you all are coming up with for her.
She was punished by the courts as was he for their separate actions.
So if someone raped my daughter, you would defend that rapist from me trying to break every bone in their body?
If yes, something is deeply wrong with you.
If not, then we agree that sometimes consequences beyond what the law prescribes are appropriate. We just disagree where the line is, and it makes your reasoning pretty hollow.
And how did he abuse her?
It was her that abused the agreement they entered when they got married. And it was valid course for him seeking divorce and be compensated.
Yes, you’re not allowed to abuse your spouse even within your own home.
afaict there were two abuses happening that were appropriately each dealt with separately
+1 Taiwan
My statement doesn’t refute that two abuses happened.
do you think it’s abuse when someone hits someone else in self defence?
Recording her having sex without consent is decidedly not the same as hitting someone in self-defense.

That doesn’t mean you get to abuse someone who has cheated.
You can term this abuse if you want, but I see this as appropriate consequences for a hurtful act IMO. If you don’t like that don’t cheat.
Revenge porn and recording someone having sex without consent is a crime regardless of what that person has done to you to hurt your feelings.
explain what revenge porn is, and why you think this is revenge porn.
EDIT for viewers at home :

it may shock some of you to know that evidence for divorce proceedings is not distrobution.
Explain to me why you’re clipping my comment out of context to try to make a point.
because you’re bending over backwards to frame someone abusing someone else in a legal system as being the victim.

That’s a false equivalence.

By recording her without consent.
It wasn’t a valid course of action, the courts determined he was in the wrong for this.
For fucks sake that was the basis for my original comment, why do you think you are making an argument repeating that?
Also if it is illegal, why was it accepted in separation court?
Because they are two separate actions - the cheating and the recording.
Is she still a spouse if she’s cheating with sex? No immediately not in my book.
Yes, one is still married until a divorce happens.
Well, that’s not really a matter of opinion lol. Spouse is a specific legal term. They’re still a spouse until a court dissolves the contract.
