Hands down the dumbest people I’ve ever personally witnessed in my life or ever read about in the annals of history.
I had no clue before the last decade that people without actual, physical brain damage could be this stupid.
My scumbag step-sister and her dumbass husband we’re all gung ho about Trump because he was going to “bring America back” and other incoherent hillbilly shit like that. It was funny watching them act like they were anti-Trump from the word go when everyone found out that MAGA meant they were going to lose all the state aid they rely on.
Technically every American in their 40s was poisoned as children with lead in the air we all technically have brain damage. Not saying it’s the cause of any of this shit, but pushing everyone down a few rungs sure didn’t help things.

No, cults do not have permanent control over peoples minds. People do leave. When there’s big events like this that expose problems in the group, lots of people towards the edges will take off. Those who remain are the really devoted ones. It may take decades or even centuries to truly disappear (there’s still a few Shakers out there), but MAGA doesn’t have to shrink that much before it’s no longer a meaningful political force.

Edit: further to my point, we need to stop trying to do anything with these people. We need to appeal to those who will not voted, who don’t engage because they’re sick and tired of politics as usual. People who are getting killed by our economy and don’t like Trump, but they also don’t like Democrats. We need more progressives and we need to get rid of the democratic party. Because their playbook was, is, and continually will be to try to appeal to conservative voters. New York City is a prime example of why. The Democratic party will pull out all the stops to try and prevent a progressive from taking an office. But they can’t be bothered to stop a conservative. Just look at the pathetic showing they gave in opposition to that Ugly Ass Bill. They took selfies and posed with baseball bats and looked shocked and horrified as nearly every Republican voted it into law. But they didn’t do a single real thing to try to stop it. Their attitude is, “well we’ll get em in the mid-terms”… Meanwhile millions of Americans are going to lose health coverage and billionaires are going to line their pockets with that Medicaid money.
So you’d rather lose elections on principle than try and convince them to vote your way? Doesn’t sound like a smart play to me.

The way to win elections is to stop trying to appeal to these people and start investing time and money into the “socialist” policies that left wing voters are almost constantly asking for.

At the other end of the spectrum, the tech billionaires love hiring H1-B visa holders to keep tech salaries down, and they’re the ones buying $1M/plate dinners with Trump.
