i pop 400mg of caffeine and it vaguely manages to get me out of bed, i don’t dare try taking any more for the rest of the day lest my liver or whatever organ explodes
I’d be more worried about your heart my guy
i do believe the heart is an organ
But also that’s the thing, caffeine doesn’t really have that effect on me. If i pop another 400mg after i’m out of bed then my pulse will go up somewhat, but then it’s high to begin with (low-key never been able to properly relax in my entire life, my brain simply doesn’t possess the function most of the time) so…
Why you gotta call me out when I’m just putting that 3rd espresso to my lips?
anyone else making do with anxiety meds instead of “adhd meds”?
i did for a while but they eventually removed anxiety to such a degree that even “If i dont do this thing right now i will suffer heavy consequences” was not a good enough reasn to do stuff anymore
i worry that I’ll get to that stage. although, my meds are losing effect on me for now.
what did you do after the fear no longer motivated?
basically had to stop using the meds and learn to manage anxiety to acceptable levels with therapy and other means. Not a perfect solution but better than the alternative.
True. I’m trying to work on that. moving slowly…
thanks for your experience.
Due to GERD issues I now vomit up coffee so I cant do that anymore lmao… anyway got my initial ADHD consult this month
PPIs are your friend. With esomeprazole or dexlansoprazole I can drink or eat whatever I want. Better living through chemistry. Embrace Big Pharma and lifelong medication.
If Nexium (esomeprazole) isn’t strong enough for you try another Rx PPI or a higher dose. There’s one for everyone.
Yeah I might ask for a stronger one
It may be counterproductive, but what about acid reducers to help with the coffee? It may be best to simply abstain. I’ve been dealing with reflux for a long time, but I’m able to tolerate it with, not one, but two acid reducers… It used to just be one, and I take it for more than just the coffee. Just some thoughts.
Atm its crazy so even if i scoffed 5 down i would still vomit. Even with the nexium im taking. So yeah absolutely abstaining for me. I have to abstain from a lot atm, otherwise i vomit. So rip
I’m so sorry to hear that. Yeah, that’s rough. I hope you feel better.
Thank you
I am not asking about your business, just sharing my issues.
I self-medicated for a number of years, mainly with gallons of coffee in the morning and a couple of twelve-packs in the evening. That habit got super-charged when I started taking Adderall for a while. That was what it was, and it destroyed my stomach and the reflux was horrendous.
Once you get settled with meds, if at all, take a good look at your own habits and diet very broadly. Treatment for ADHD, in whatever form, will give you a decent crutch to adjust anything you need to adjust. (I had to get sober, slow down on the coffee, start running 20 miles a week and much more. Hopefully you have much lighter options and tweaks.)
My stomach has gotten better year-over-year now, so that was a huge plus. Of course, our lives are completely different and my case was a little more on the extreme side. I also am blatantly generalizing folks with ADHD by just implying that most of us have unhealthy habits, but it is not said with ill-intent and simply isn’t true for all people.
It may take years for you to adjust your life around treatment and making life decent again with a busted stomach, but don’t give up. Time, along with an adjusted lifestyle, can work wonders.
(GERD obviously isn’t alcoholism, and I am not meaning to imply that either. Regardless, I sympathize and can relate deeply with your issues.)
Thanks for sharing your experience. Good on you for helping yourself.
But yeah, on addiction, for sure. I was addicted to specifically iced coffee. Drank that so so much. I was absolutely dysfunctional without it. was living by myself for the first time, and was struggling a lot with uni work+at home stuff.
I did also eat a lot of spicey food lol.
I had a gastropocy and found I had a 1cm hiata hernia, probably from all of the vomiting, and its probably doesnt help it at all.
So self-medicating?
that
who
