It’d be easy to remove this post for a violation of Rule 3’s requirement on high-quality sources, but this is textbook leopards, so we’ll work around it.

Pinning this comment so everyone has easy access to the ACLU’s press release about this lawsuit which is likely to be a much better source. Here’s a Charlotte Observer article about the attack. And here’s the Newsweek article quoting MS NOW about the regret.

Maybe I should have a canned explanation for how trash the IBT is as a source, but as a proxy for that: we don’t use it as much as we reasonably can on Wikipedia (a source which, funnily, I’ve seen the IBT cite for claims not about Wikipedia).

Tangent: I would love to see a Lemmy feature that allows community mods to unilaterally block links to specific domains within their community. So, in this case, the poster would get an immediate notification that their post was not allowed due to the link being to a low quality source, and a suggestion to find the same story on a more reputable site.

agreed, but when verifying, a broad consensus among shitty sources works when you can’t find good sources.

we found the charlotte observer tho so like, why newsweek.

      Factually incorrect.

Donald did promise an immigration crackdown. He did not promise Gestapo-ing legal citizens. This person has every right to be pissed.

I would bet you $100 this voter would’ve reveled in watching an illegal immigrant having their window smashed out and getting drug through glass.

I’d bet another hundred they’d make a comment similar to “well they shouldn’t have been here then, it’s the law and they’re a criminal”

My wagers are based on every real interaction I’ve had with Trump voters, which is unfortunately way too many. They voted for this to happen to other people, you’re not going to convince me otherwise, but thanks for trying

Your anecdotal evidence is worthless in the face of actual lost elections and policy changes reflecting the extreme unpopularity that Donald has built among both parties’ voters.

      People keep saying this.

It’s like you’ve slept through every election since 2024, you know, the ones where overwhelmingly Donald’s candidates are losing by double digits despite the fact that he won said districts by double digits in 2024.

Hell, voters have abandoned Donald to such a degree that they quit with the gerrymandering push, as they can’t accurately predict where they will have support now.

I mean yes, leopards and faces, but, goddamn.

US Police will break your window… but they typically won’t drag you through the now broken window, they’ll open the door, unbuckle you or cut the straps.

    Fucking hell.

    What’s underneath Hell?

How low can the bar be?

Ask Barack Obama. He could have put a stop to all this by passing a few laws when he had a supermajority.

      Instead, he doubled down.

ICE recruits people the police rejected. It’s what happens when your political ideology is more important than any morality. IOW: when the ends justify the means.

I’ve heard ICE described as a militia of the unemployable created to persecuted the working class.

I’m sure Marx might have had something to say about the lumpen proletariat and the wages of a failed social safety net. But the six-figure salary for hunting anyone with a green card or a student visa for sport seems to speak for itself.

If you’ve ever read Sinclair Lewis’s It can’t happen here, the parallel between his “marching clubs” and our Proud Boys/ICE are hard to miss.

i dunno. what happened to the SS and SA after 1945 in germany? did they get to go back among the populace as normal or were they shunned into exile? because i seem to remember only a few were tried and the rest just became regular germans.

            They were “washed clean”.

In Austria former Nazis even paraded around in uniform after the war, and the Austrians went as far as claiming that the Austrian Nazis were the real victims because they’d been so badly “misled” (yeah fucking right), and they were very hostile towards Jewish etc. people – the actual victims – who tried to get some sort of restitution

my racist uncle with cerebral palsy just married an even more racist “italian princess” from argentina. who speaks less spanish than me. whose family was third generation argentine. i went to their wedding to try to welcome her into the family, she saw my mobility device, sneered, and i literally have not been able to get a single word out of her. good job, uncle!

my mother loves her for some reason.

The claim is from a lawyer’s description of events in a legal complaint seeking monetary damages. It’s hyperbolic, and mostly bullshit.

They stop went as you described. They told him to get out, he didn’t. They threatened to break the window and remove him. He still refused. Then they broke the window, opened the door, and removed him through the open door while he resisted, all the while barking about talking about how they were gonna pay for it. They didn’t drag him through glass, and didn’t drag him through the window. He had a small cut on his arm. There was a small bit of visible blood on his arm. if he didn’t put that spot of arm in front of the camera lens, you wouldn’t know it was cut. His physical injuries were visible, but negligible.

The worst part is that this worthless cunt got the working end of what he voted for, and now he’s probably gonna get a judgment or settlement that we all get to pay for. Sadly, the faces getting eaten here are taxpayers’.

Good, it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving dickhead. I hope it happens to him many more times before this is over.

Most likely, he’ll still end up deported eventually. They don’t respect Birthright Citizenship, and that’s in the Constitution. They certainly don’t respect Naturalized Citizenship.

Bottom line: If you weren’t born in America, of American parents, then they want you OUT.

    On November 15, 2025, Aceituno was […]

Ima stop you there and ask: On November 14, 2025, if you had asked him who he supported, would he have said Trump? Because I bet the answer is “yes”, and if so, fuck everyone like him. They support Trump until something happens to them. They can’t be bothered to understand how any of this affects anyone but themselves.

Of course I’ll be glad if he votes blue from here on out, but I bet he won’t.
