All this show is, is a condensed version of the cartoon. They’ve left out as much as they left in. Just watch the cartoon. It’s got everything, the way it was meant to be watched.

I’ll be honest, even without any of the previous adaptations, I would have 0 desire to watch this.

Why would I want to watch a story that I’ve already seen done better? I can’t think of anything I would change from the original. Even The Divide gets a re-watch every time.

And since the real world is bound by things animation isn’t, there will always need to be changes to the story. Unless the original makers can get unlimited funding, full and absolute control over the end product, and years of preparation time, I genuinely don’t think a live action adaptation can be done.

Give me a live-action show set in the same world, at a different time. Or even the same time but the events of ATLA is background stuff, and MAYBE every so often we see an ATLA character directly. I’d watch that, I think.

Pretty sure this is the one that leaked online 4 months ago. I imagine that may have been a huge factor

Youre thinking of an Animated movie that’s supposed to depict team avatar as adults, roughly 15-20 years after the events of the original show. It was leaked in full and the studio panicked. Last I heard they weren’t even going to release at all but that may have changed.

It was a modern life action adaptation. So, basically they took a story which was great, sanded off all the corners and pointy bits that might have bothered anyone at any time, and made it the blandest version possible.

God forbid someone is less-than-perfect in order to have character growth later. Can’t have that!

The portrayal of Sokka is spot on, iroh and toph too. Aang & katara are 6-7/10. Zuzu is a 9/10

The timeline gets re-kajiggered in season 1, which leads to them meeting won shi tong twice, and the kidnapping of appa happens a bit differently. And then the metal bending discovery scene feels really rushed.

Aside from those bits, I think it’s good.
