Bad actor even before transition and very small even when they where female so kind of odd to be a soldier and when people thought he was Achilles.
In Troy (2004) Achilles effortless defeats a much larger and heavy warrior through seer skill. I’ve never anybody claiming that his size makes that scene bad or unrealistic.

It’ll do fine, it still won’t make it a good movie (nothing to do with that) it’ll be a typical Hollywood pander film, big visuals, little substance. Oppenheimer was praised for being a mediocre piece of crap.
I liked it, but I found it visually disappointing. No gods except Athena, Sirens boring, Hades boring, Circe boring (except the transformation scene, that was sick).
Nolan was essentially making it so the gods were just figments of people’s imagination.

People, including the directors etc, claimed that vecna in stranger things was “100% practical, no cgi”. They claimed that there was no cgi in top gun maverick. The truth? Yeah they filmed practical things, but then replaced literally the entire things with cgi.
I highly doubt that. I haven’t seen it yet but Nolan uses vfx in all his films. As he should, people who think “CGI always sucks” never know how much CGI is used that they don’t see.

Unless the movie is Star Wars or Avengers: Endgame or Avatar, nobody should be spending a quarter of a billion dollars on a movie. Dune 2’s budget was $190 million, for a sci-fi epic, with a proven audience. This is just a fantasy story.
Making the budget on debut is incredible lucky, but it might still be considered a “flop” because of the extra $200M or whatever of marketing budget.
Doesn’t Disney spend that on most of their movies.

Christopher Nolan is his own brand that has a proven audience. In a sense, Universal paid handsomely to poach him from Warner Brothers, and giving him big budgets is part of that deal.
And he has yet to disappoint or not make money so it’s working fine. It already made over $260 million globally and the weekend isn’t even over yet. It will absolutely still be the biggest movie to see for the next several weeks so it did it’s job. Sometimes I feel like there isn’t one thing on Lemmy that people can’t find something to complain about! I can’t wait to see it still, but there were no good seats at any theater near me when i finally decided to go. Next weekend it is!

Anytime I look up a forum thread of a movie I’m watching/wanting to watch (spoiler-free), at least half of the comments are “this movie was trash and you should feel bad for liking it.”
And the other half feel the need to justify why they liked it to the half that hated it for reasons they literally can’t put into words (if they do it’s always the most contrived/overused excuse in critiquing).

Casting matt damon was the worst decision in a long line of terrible decisions by this guy. these guys. It’s crazy matt read the script and thought “yup, thats for me!” The hubris combined with a complete lack of self awareness is so fucking funny. shame that this will be a lot of people’s only exposure to the source material.

I don’t know what that means. He said in an interview that he didn’t. He just said “yes.”
But he read it after accepting the job. Right?
It was a pretty short clip. He and some other big name actors apparently made fun of Robert Pattison because he wanted to read through the script before giving an answer. He said he and the others just said “yes” the moment they got the call.
I’m sure he read it eventually–at least his lines, but I have no idea of the timeline.
