A lot off tmes this happens. Nice and personal… Soulless. All those housingreality is the same. O we have a nice home… Lets make it ‘unitysoussage’ white with some accents.
You do know that the inside of that house in the movie was built on a sound stage. That only the exterior of the house was shot for the movie.
I get what you’re saying, but switching my gaze between the two is like turning a siren off when I see the “after” pic. It’s desolate and boring, but it’s not AWOOOGAAAA
The first one is interesting, as it shows that they have vastly extended the house to the rear. The door under the stairs led to a half-bath (toilet and sink), and that was the buildings’ end.
If you ask me how I know that: I got the original house plans from the net and plan to - one day - build a proper LEGO model of it. Not the shrunken one they offer as a set, but built to scale from those plans, with the driveway, the garage, the garden with the tree and tree house.
I mean, yeah, the new one is white and awful.
But the old one also has the most disgusting wallpaper to ever exist.
I’m surprised the interior was shot in a real house
Yes in the northern suburbs of Chicago, should check it out after visiting the Obama presidential center in Jackson Park.
The outside of the house was filmed there. The inside was a set.
The Netflix show “The movies that made us” has an ep9sode about it.
Why doesn’t the white house have Christmas decorations
You can also see this on cars share i live. Next time you go outside, see what percentage of cars that are white, gray or black. Its the absolute majority. And then you have maybe 20% with different colors.
Its because people have been told that white, gray and black are elegant and you won’t get tired of those colors.
Im so tired of those colors.
The primary red and primary blue always on offer are worse.
No, it is because most are lease cars for companies, and they require them to be a neutral color so they keep their resale value for when they get changed to a newer model.
Could be actually. In my country, white Teslas are everywhere and most are company cars.
Our car is white because that’s what they had in stock when we needed a car. I don’t give a shit what color my car is as long as it can fit and move my family and my stuff.
Yeah, it could be that a lot of people don’t care about the color too, that’s true.
I cared a lot actually, even turned down a car because it was black. I have a very nice blue color on my current car and it’s so nice to see it every time in the parking lot.
Good. That place needed a renovation. It was a regular death trap!
Careful what you wish for, what with the paint cans and all.
So it now looks like the inside of a refrigerator. Interesting.
That bad boy is ready to be slapped up on Airbnb!
Wow the now pictures looks depressing
I hate it. I hate how there’s no colour in the world any more. Houses are black and white, cars and black and white, clothes are black and white.
Why do people hate colour?
Advertising made people prefer those colors. IPhones, tech gadgets, speakers, televisions, computers, desks, chairs…
Its not generic, it’s programming of our minds. And now, when a new color MacBook appears, we feel it’s amazing and we want it. Right? Absolutely ridiculous.
generic taste of modern house, copy and paste.
It was beautiful in the movie, but as someone who lived through that time, it feels pretty dated these days.
The new look is boring, sterile, and reeks of faux-minimalist wallet flexing. Not my thing either.
There’s got to be a happy medium between everything has extra detail and patterns and bad sci-fi set.
The happy medium is beige colored walls, one accent wall and warm lighting
You guys like wallpaper?
I’ll agree the white is eh but burn the wallpaper, no fuckin thanks.
Fuckin’ everything is white.
Repainting everything twice is still easier than dealing with wallpaper
