Some people also don’t like it when someone is “overexposed” and in everything. They liked it when he was on the rise, in Game of Thrones and then he broke out with Mandalorian. Pedro Pascal’s sister is a trans woman. He has been publicly very vocal on the subject of trans rights and inclusion. Consequently, a lot of transphobes, chuds, and miscellaneous fascists have been targeting him for a while and trying to smear his reputation any way they can. I don’t really pay much attention to celebrity stuff so I don’t know to what extent JK Rowling is personally involved in that, but given that she has been a very outspoken anti-trans bigot for some time, I would not be surprised to learn she was egging her followers on to that end.

Oh I disagree. I used to listen to Coldplay pretty often and people have hated on Coldplay for decades. Some found the sound boring, and I recall accusations of them copying music from others, though I never looked into those claims. I say used to because I feel like my tastes in music changed and they don’t come up in my playlist much anymore.

Weird, I haven’t heard anyone say they hated Coldplay for this. In fact, I’d say that Coldplay is one of those bands that is regularly hated on, well before any of the cheating CEO and now, if anything, Coldplay is more liked, even if indirectly just because the situation was funny and meme’d so much.

As far as I can tell, Coldplay only have the one song, that they take apart and reassemble in different configurations. They are the musical equivalent of beige, and appeal solidly to the middle-classes. Hating Coldplay has been the thing to do for decades. It’s music for people who know nothing about music.

That’s odd that you’d describe them as Nickelback or worse, modern country music, when part of why they’ve gained and lost fans over the years is because their albums tended to have different sounds to them.
