That shit’s handy cause you don’t have to wait hours and hours for a surgery to finish, you can go do other things. But also my POS husband went and did meth and had sex with some guy while I was on the table. So yeah it’s not going great here. What were we talking about?

Last time I was the pickup person for a surgery, the surgery went well and fast, then the first recovery room (the one where I wasn’t allowed to visit) took 4 hours. Poor friend was just so slow to get his mental faculties back after anesthesia. I blame his redheaded genes.

Yeah, I really wish this was a thing when my wife was in the hospital after her strokes and having multiple surgeries.

Not that I would have used the time to smoke meth and have sex with some guy.

I’m sorry about your POS husband. we always just went and got brunch. because brunch is the meal of joy, and we needed joy while we were waiting and stressing about a loved one in surgery.

It’s not a tracking chip. These are updated from the EHR or ADT system the hospital uses. Someone is manually charting or hitting a button of the wall of the OR.

I’m an Epic EMR analyst, in Epic these are called “case tracking events” and they’re updated automatically as nurses chart the patient in preprocedure, in room, in recovery, etc.

Yes! This happened to my husband and I wanted so much to be with him right after the surgery (not top surgery, abdominal surgery) but when it took forever and I asked the desk they said he wasn’t even there! Meanwhile he’s on the fifth floor, can’t communicate because he’s a quad and trached so he couldn’t talk, when I finally track him down I can tell he needs suctioning and repositioning…

Anyway, thank you for making the extra effort!

You know what I find interesting about the quality check step? They’re never sending it backwards for failing the check, are they?

In addition to what the other person said, trans top surgery is actually a small minority. The majority of top surgeries are fat men and women getting a breast reduction and women getting bigger boobs than the ones they already have.

Remember this when some dumbass tells you they want to ban “gender-affirming care” because the majority of it is for cis people.
