Oh if that’s what’s being served at $25 I’d wonder if I’m trapped on the Abraham Lincoln and just dissociating/imagining my daily life.

My local BBQ place will do a full 3-meat (and sides) catering spread for 20 people for $350. If you’re paying $300 for 6 people, you’re getting ripped off.

Wouldn’t $300 in any currency still be $300?

Like 5 kilogram of any material is still 5 kilogram?

Sure you might have one block of steel and 250.000 grains of rice… But still 5 kilogram.

$ doesn’t tell you anything though. $ CAD != $ AUD != $ USD. Grams have an agreed upon global meaning.

Either way, they should tell us the currency.

Edit: In Toronto, this is a common price for this quantity (1/2lb), in CAD.

This is what Mission BBQ is like, but add in the guilt trip to buy a $3 plastic drink cup “for the troops”. And the barbecue is not good. It’s not inedible or anything, it’s just that everything (including the sides) is loaded with sugar.

    YUM

Nice sly reference to the company owning several well-known restaurant chains.

Yum! Brands, Inc. (sometimes called just Yum!) is an American multinational fast food corporation. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the company operates KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Habit Burger & Grill, and several technology companies. Yum! is one of the world’s largest fast food restaurant companies in terms of system units. In 2016, Yum! had 43,617 restaurants, including 2,859 that were company-owned and 40,758 that were franchised, in 135 nations and territories worldwide.

2016? Guess Wikipedia hasn’t updated this one in a while.

Which is weir, because chicken is one of the few items in the grocery store that I haven’t really seen a large increase in the price, and the all you can eat wings deals at restaurants have only slightly increased. Meanwhile, like you said, everything else that is chicken at a restaurant has noticeably risen.

So the brisket is generally an unappetizing piece of the cow corpse. A long time ago, some realized that slowly cooking it over a very long time, which has been ‘formalized’ into smoking it for 24 hours, makes the meat tender enough to eat. The brisket has different parts, some of which have more fat than others. The moist brisket is the portion where the fat is very thick. Generally the smoking process makes the fat shrink, but it’s still a significant portion of the meat. Think a layer cake where the icing is give or take 1/6 - 1/4 of the cake’s entire portion. That’s moist.

The lean brisket is usually where either the fat was thin enough to not be visible after the smoking, or it was deliberately scraped off before/during the smoking. The meat will not be dry like a piece of toast, but you won’t ever have a piece of fat in your mouth either. The way the particular bbq joint prepares it will differ, so assume these are broad strokes and not very specific designations.

Some people have preferences that are wild. My friend literally wants just the fat and will eat it like it’s candy, while my mother wants it the consistency of jerky.

It’s a quick handy, gotta maximize profits. A little rugburn is inevitable.

If you’re splurging and it’s not moist, you need to hydrate more

They are two different parts of the brisket. The “moist” is from the point which is fattier than the “lean” flat.

A half pound of coked ribs? That’s like 2 ribs.

I was about to grumble, but then I saw $3.49 for Cole slaw and can only believe this is a joke.

Depends ribs of what. Chicken ribs, you get lots of ribs. Beef ribs, only part of one. For babies, I guess it depends.

It’s somewhat made up for by there being no state income tax, but it is still among the highest sales tax rates
